Maurice Sendak is Running Where the Wild Things Are

An era has passed.  Maurice Sendak has passed away at the age of 83 (1928-2012).

Where the Wild Things Are‘ was a staple of my childhood.  It inspired made up games filled with good and scary monsters.  Running around hooting and hollering on the vast acreage I called home.

His direct approach to storytelling helped shape generations of storytellers.

Mr. Sendak, thank you for all your wonderful creations.  Where ever you are, I hope you are running with the Wild Things.

I hail from the East and view the world as my playground. I'm opinionated. My dog is my co-pilot, but my cat navigates better. I'm only limited by my imagination. While there are terrible things that happen in the world I am responsible for making good things happen where I live, and that affects the world at large making it a better place.

    • While a part of my childhood came to an end. I truly believe, once he gets settled where ever he goes, he’ll be whispering to other writers inspiring them. Thanks for stopping by.

  7. Wonderful post, Leila, although I’m sad to hear the news.

    • I just couldn’t shake the desire to yell at the top of my lungs ‘let the wild rumpus start!’. My officemates might have objected. I’ll continue to honor him by sharing his works with my nieces and nephews. Rumpusing must start early.

  8. The Picaso of the literary set. What a wonderful legacy
